I take on a limited number of custom commissions where we can create something meaningful together. Whether it’s an heirloom, a meaningful gift or a keepsake for a special moment, I’ll work closely with you to design and stitch it by hand.

Whether you’re new to embroidery or curious about custom commissions, here are some common questions I get — and honest answers to help guide you.

1. What types of embroidery commissions do you offer?

Portrait Embroidery – people, pets, or even imagined figures
Chinese Characters – names, idioms
English Words – names, phrases, biblical psalms
For Little Ones – ultrasounds, capturing little hands/feet housed in a wooden frame
Other Ideas – Architecture (home, travel moments), pet portrait pins, coasters, bookmarks… I’m open to ideas

2. How do I request a custom piece?

You can fill out the commission forms available on the respective pages listed above or send me an email with your idea. These forms will be available when a commission cycle is open. Once I hit capacity, the cycle closes and the forms will be made unavailable.

3. How does custom pricing work?

I take on custom commissions where each piece is one-of-a-kind and tailored to your requests.

Here are the starting prices –

Portraits (outline on 16cm): from $200
Chinese Characters (on 14cm): from $250

Starting prices are for simple, smaller pieces with minimal elements. Increments in pricing will be based on time spent, complexity, final size and framing format preferred.

All pricing listed here are guiding prices and the final price will depend on the requirements of the piece. 🥰

4. How long does it take?

Your piece will be created during the month you choose while filling up the form.

Each commission is scheduled based on its selected month, not the order in which requests arrive. Depending on my current lineup, your turnaround may shift slightly. If you have a special date in mind, feel free to let me know — I’ll always do my best to make it work.

While I aim to meet all agreed timelines, the artistic process can occasionally require extra time to ensure the best result. I appreciate your patience and understanding as I give each commission the attention it deserves. ❤️

5. Will I get to see a draft/sketch before you start stitching?

Yes, always — I’ll send you a digital sketch of your custom design before I begin. As I try my best to create something you will love and treasure for a long time, there will be 2 complimentary revisions per commission piece. If you need more revisions, additional design fees may apply.

Once the draft is approved for stitching, no changes can be made. Since each piece is entirely hand-embroidered, edits after this point aren’t possible without starting over.

6. Can I buy a ready-made piece instead?

Yes! Very rarely, I release one-of-a-kind or small batch pieces in my shop. You can follow me on Instagram, @curlyheadmakes to know when new work will be available.

7. Do you ship internationally?

Yes — I ship worldwide. Shipping fees vary depending on your location and will be included in your quote.
