Hand-Embroidery Commission

I take on a limited number of custom commissions where we can create something meaningful together. Whether it’s an heirloom, a meaningful gift, or a keepsake for a special moment, I’ll work closely with you to develop a piece shaped by your story and ideas then stitch it by hand with care.

Each commission is considered individually, with the scope, research, materials, and level of detail tailored to the work.

Pricing starts from $280.

FAQs

1. What types of embroidery commissions do you offer?

There are 3 main categories - language, portrait and architecture.

Feel free to reach out via email for very specific requests - curlyheadmakes@gmail.com

2. How do I request a custom piece?

You can fill out the commission forms available on the respective pages listed above or send me an email with your specific request. These forms will be available when a commission cycle is open. Once a cycle is closed, the forms will be too.

Stay up to date with me on my IG - @curlyheadmakes where announcements will be made.

3. How does commission pricing work?

My commissioned pieces are based on narrative-driven works through shared meaning and thoughtful exploration with artist-led research.

Pricing is based on size and final scope of work -

Small hoops (14 - 16cm) - from $280

Large hoops (up to 30cm) - from $500

Frames - sizes vary so price is to be quoted (as reference, my 30 x 40cm framed piece with 3 characters can be around $1500)

4. Will I get to see a draft/sketch before you start stitching?

Yes, always — I’ll send you a digital sketch of your custom design before I begin. As I try my best to create something you will love and treasure for a long time, there will be 2 complimentary revisions per commission piece. If you need more revisions, additional design fees may apply.

5. How long does it take?

Every commission is made to order and hand-stitched with care.

Once we discuss your commission, I'll provide a rough timeline. After the sketch has been approved by you, I'll be able to share a more accurate estimated completion timeframe, as the design and level of detail will then be confirmed.

If there is a specific date, please indicate when you submit the commission request.

6. Do you accept international commissions?

Yes. International commissions are considered on a case-by-case basis to account for shipping, timelines, and destination. Feel free to get in touch with your location and commission details, and I'll be happy to discuss the available options.
